Physicians Differ on the MAID Decision

If nothing is done, Maid will be permitted as of March.

Physicians in Newfoundland and Labrador have different perspectives on the federal government's decision to not allow a mental illness to become the sole basis for receipt for medical assistance in dying (MAID).

However, earlier this week, Canada's Justice Minister Sean Fraser revealed the government will be introducing legislation to continue to rule it out under the Criminal Code indefinitely.

A professor of bioethics in the Faculty of Medicine and Memorial University of Newfoundland, Daryl Pullman, said he thinks it was a good decision.

"After all, we're talking about ending another human being's life, and I think we should have the strictest sort of oversight and criteria around that," he said, adding the declaration by the government in Ottawa "seems to say well, let's slow down here at least in this space and take a look at it."

“Dignity” Bill in in New Jersey OKs Starving Dementia Patients to Death

New Jersey lawmakers have introduced Senate Bill 4186, the “Dementia Dignity and Advance Care Planning Act.” It is wrong on many, many grounds.

Wesley J. Smith wrote about this legislation in National Review Online on May 18^th. He warns that “moves are afoot in bioethics” that could allow dementia advance directives to be used either to authorize euthanasia where legal or to require withholding food and water from patients who can no longer provide current consent, even when they may still appear willing to eat or drink.

Supporters frame the bill around autonomy, quality of life, and reducing emotional and financial burdens. They argue that it allows individuals diagnosed with Alzheimer’s disease or other dementias to create “Dementia Specific Advance Directives” (DSADs) while they still have “decisional capacity.”

No one disputes the devastation of dementia. Many of us have watched helplessly as memory, speech, and independence faded in someone we loved. Legislators invoke that suffering to justify this bill.

What they do not advertise is that this creates a potential dangerous structure in which withdrawal of artificial nutrition and hydration becomes routine in certain cases.

Fatally Flawed Experiments In Austrailian Euthanasia Assisted Suicide Laws

Beginning with the first, short-lived experiment with a law permitting euthanasia, which was conducted in the Northern Territory from July 1996 to March 1997, there are thirty jurisdictions which have (or had) a scheme permitting either euthanasia or assisted suicide or both.

For other jurisdictions considering whether to legalize assisted suicide or euthanasia these jurisdictions can usefully be seen as a series of experiments in attempting to create the much vaunted “safe” regime for assisted suicide or euthanasia.

The data from each of these laboratory experiments in ending human lives is patchy. Many of the regimes, despite claims of their “safety”, seem to have been deliberately designed to minimize the collection and publication of data to make it impossible ever to know how often things go wrong.

Nonetheless scrutiny of all the data that is available from these experiments leads to the conclusion that
they are all – in various ways – fatally flawed.

Instead of Civil War, a Naked Mole Rat Colony Changed Queens Peacefully

When the Salk Institute for Biological Studies in San Diego got their first naked mole rat colony in 2019, the researchers named them the "amigos" — Spanish for "friends."

Naked mole rats are subterranean mammals native to East Africa. Since the 1960s, scientists have studied captive colonies in labs and zoos for their unusual living arrangements and their long, healthy lives.

The Salk colony's name was prescient. A few years later, they exhibited a peaceful transition that bucks the conventional wisdom on how naked mole rat colonies change queens — which is usually through all-out warfare.

"Maybe they heard us and they were like, okay, we'll show you that we're friends," says Shanes Abeywardena, a veterinarian and postdoctoral fellow in scientist Janelle Ayres' lab. Abeywardena and her colleagues documented the nonviolent changing of the queens for the April 15 issue of the journal Science Advances.

The Disturbing Truth about the Muslim Jesus

Tucker Carlson’s recent claim that “Muslims love Jesus” is worse than might appear. The problem is not that Muslims don’t really love Jesus; it’s that they love a counterfeit Jesus—one who promotes hate for and war on Christians.

Let’s carefully unpack this troubling claim.

On April 14, Tucker Carlson asserted:

The people in charge don’t want you to know this, but Muslims love Jesus. Islam reveres Him as a major prophet and messenger of the Lord, believes He performed miracles, and states that He will return to Earth to defeat the Antichrist.

This is a perfect example of how a set of words can be true—literally speaking, what Tucker wrote is true—but can also mean antithetical things to antithetical audiences, in this case, Muslims and Christians.

Put differently, the “Jesus” Muslims love (known in Arabic as ‘Isa) behaves more like a faithful Muslim and sometime jihadist, not the Son of God proclaimed by the New Testament—which Muslims believe is fake news (or, in the Koran’s words, “distorted” and “corrupted,” from h-r-f, ح ر ف).

Alberta Seeks to Set Limits on "Medically Assisted Dying"

Alberta has proposed a bill that would limit the use of medically assisted dying - also known as voluntary euthanasia - in the Canadian province solely to end-of-life circumstances.

In 2021, Canada expanded access to medically assisted dying, known domestically by the acronym Maid, to people with serious, incurable illnesses or disabilities, even if their death is not reasonably foreseeable.

Canada is also due to expand access next year to people whose only medical condition is mental illness, though that has twice been delayed.

Alberta is the first jurisdiction in Canada to independently propose limits to the practice.

Alberta Premier Danielle Smith, said during a news conference on Wednesday that Maid should only be an option for those with no hope of recovery.

Tolkien was right. The greatest stories of the ages center on death—how people face it, or how they respond to loss.

In “Braveheart,“ William Wallace takes up Scotland’s cause after his wife is killed by an English soldier. In ”The Return of the King,“ Eowyn risks her life to slay the Witch-king after her uncle Theoden falls. In ”Wonder Woman,” Steve Trevor sacrifices himself to save others, flying away with a payload of poison gas.

The lesson of these stories is clear: When humans stop fearing death, they are capable of extraordinary things. Yet fear of death is common—nearly half of Americans report fearing death.

Many consider this natural, but Socrates disagreed. He called fear of death “the pretence of wisdom,” observing that “no one knows whether death, which they in their fear apprehend to be the greatest evil, may not be the greatest good.”

Socrates understood the same lesson of our stories: When we no longer fear the grave, we can live our full life. He was not the only teacher to grasp this truth.

Last week the Supreme Court heard oral arguments on the subject of birthright citizenship. Even President Trump sat in the chamber for a portion. I do find it quite perplexing that individuals who willfully violate our laws, disrespecting our national sovereignty, are rewarded by having their progeny become citizens of the very country their parents illegally entered. 

From that perspective, one would believe that this would not be a policy a Nation should pursue, understanding the floodgates that would open. And of course, there are those who are intentionally exploiting this quite insidious policy, namely China. The long-term consequences of birthright citizenship could establish a potential wave of “sleeper” citizens to whom allegiance is not truly to this Constitutional Republic. The common American would look at this issue of birthright citizenship and ask, what is the issue? Why are those who illegally enter our country allowed to have the privilege of American citizenship bestowed upon their children?

And as an American Black man, that question truly resonates with me. I know I am not alone.

I find it quite hypocritical and laughable that the Marxist leftists of today are arguing in support of something they did not support when it was first introduced: the 14th Amendment. Matter of fact, the party of the jackass, aka the Democrat party, did not support the 13th, 14th, or 15th amendments when they were introduced. These were the amendments that ended slavery in these United States, a goal for which the Republican Party was established, granted citizenship to the freed slaves, and their children, and prohibited federal and state governments from denying a citizen (see 14th Amendment) the right to vote based on race, color, or previous condition of servitude (slavery, see 13th Amendment).

 “As per Iranian Government request, please let this statement serve to represent that I am pausing the period of Energy Plant destruction by 10 Days to Monday, April 6, 2026, at 8 P.M., Eastern Time. Talks are ongoing and, despite erroneous statements to the contrary by the Fake News Media, and others, they are going very well. Thank you for your attention to this matter! 

President DONALD J. TRUMP.”Just a few hours after he issued the Saturday morning ultimatum, however, Trump wrote: “Many of Iran’s Military Leaders, who have led them poorly and unwisely, are terminated, along with much else, with this massive strike in Tehran! President DONALD J. TRUMP.” It was unclear whether this meant that the 48-hour ultimatum was still in place or not, but the “massive strike” certainly removed any lingering doubt that Trump was in earnest.

Why Are Assisted Suicide and Euthanasia (ASE) Not Accepted in Eastern Cultures?

The famous lines from Kipling’s poem, “The Ballad of East and West,” are often taken out of context and interpreted to mean that there are irreconcilable differences between Eastern and Western cultures. Actually, the subsequent lines of the poem suggest the opposite, that these cultural divisions vanish when individuals of equal strength meet, “tho’ they come from the ends of the earth!"

Perhaps so—but in the matter of assisted suicide and euthanasia (AS/E), there are indeed serious and perhaps irreconcilable differences between many countries of the “West” and those of the Asian “East.” To be sure, the terms East and West are rough and imprecise designations. In broad terms, for the purposes of this discussion, we include in the West primarily the European countries, such as Belgium, Luxembourg and the Netherlands, along with the US, the UK, and Canada. 

Some would include Australia and New Zealand. Included in the East are, among others, China, Japan, India, and Korea. But as we will explain, the terms East and West in this article refer primarily to historically different cultural, philosophical, and spiritual traditions—all of which have great bearing on the matter of AS/E. These matters are of more than academic interest to psychiatrists, since patients of Eastern and Western cultural heritage may view end-of-life care—often involving psychiatric interventions—quite differently.1

The Netherlands Times reported on March 26, 2026 that in 2025 there were 10,341 reported euthanasia deaths representing 6% of all deaths. Reported euthanasia deaths were up by 3.8% from 9,958 in 2024.Euthanasia Deaths in the Netherlands Surpass 10,000.

The article indicated that there were: 174 reported euthanasia deaths for people with mental disorders which was down by 45 from 2024. Unlike 2024, none of the deaths involved children. 499 reported euthanasia deaths for dementia which was up by 17% from 427 in 2024. In 2025 there were 11 cases where the person was not mentally competent to request euthanasia. 475 reported euthanasia deaths for multiple age-related conditions which was up by 20% from 397 in 2024. 278 reported euthanasia deaths for "other" conditions which was up by 20% from 232 in 2024. "Other" conditions is not defined. In 2025, there were 7 deaths that did not fulfill the "due care" criteria and were investigated, which was up from 6 deaths in 2024.

Was London's Recent Prayer a Show of Conquest?

On March 16, thousands of Muslims took over London’s Trafalgar Square to mark their communal breaking of Ramadan fast. A dramatic spectacle followed—replete with bodies sprawled all over the streets in prostration, as Koran verses, including “Allahu akbar,” blared out over megaphones in Arabic.

Several British Christians and conservatives responded by rightfully accusing the Muslims of intentionally engaging in a provocative act of domination over British, historically Christian, public space.

In the words of Nick Timothy, Shadow Secretary of State for Justice and Shadow Lord Chancellor:

Too many are too polite to say this. But mass ritual prayer in public places is an act of domination. The adhan—which declares there is no god but Allah and Muhammad is his messenger—is, when called in a public place, a declaration of domination. Perform these rituals in mosques if you wish. But they are not welcome in our public places and shared institutions. And given their explicit repudiation of Christianity they certainly do not belong in our churches and cathedrals… [T]he domination of public places is straight from the Islamist playbook.

With  the odds stacked against her, Margaret Dore, Esq., MBA did an admirable job educating attendee's at an "End of Life Options Discussion Panel" sponsored by Hamline Mitchell Law School's Health Law Society in Saint Paul, Minnesota on Thursday evening.

The panel was comprised of three supporters of the Minnesota End of Life Options Act, including Thaddeus Pope, and Ms. Dore, who alone stood to expose the language of the bill and the reality of what that language has allowed in Washington State, where Ms. Dore is an attorney and president of Choice is an Illusion. Not only was she outnumbered 3 to one on the panel, but pro-assisted death representatives had a fit when Ms. Dore attempted to share documentation for her talk and blocked her from handing it out.

Ms. Dore hammered home points that are often glossed over. When panel members insisted that this bill pertained to "terminal patients with less than 6 months to live," Ms. Dore shared a real encounter she had. "Doctors can be wrong about life expectancy, sometimes way wrong," said Dore. "This is due to actual mistakes and the fact that predicting life expectancy is not an exact science. A few years ago, I was met at the airport by a man who at age 18 had been diagnosed with ALS (Lou Gehrig's disease) and given 3 to 5 years to live, at which time he was to die by paralysis. His diagnosis had been confirmed by the Mayo Clinic. When he met me at the airport, he was 74 years old. The disease progression had stopped on its own."

Alberta Government Moves to Drastically Reduce Access to Medically Assisted Dying (Euthanasia)

EDMONTON — Alberta Premier Danielle Smith's government took steps Wednesday to drastically restrict who's eligible for medical assistance in dying.  

Smith’s United Conservative Party government introduced a bill that, if passed, would limit medical assistance in dying, better known as MAID, to those likely to die of natural causes within a year.

Those under 18 would still be prohibited regardless of condition, in line with current federal rules.

But Smith said Ottawa's framework is largely missing the mark.

"I think that we're failing in our duty to give people hope," Smith told reporters before the bill was introduced in the house.

"We believe MAID must be a compassionate option reserved only for those who will not recover from terminal illness."

The victim, daughter of impoverished Salvation Army church member Saleem Masih, had been tutored by the suspect’s sister for four months. While the female tutor was away, the brother let all Muslim children leave but forcibly took the Christian girl to another room and assaulted her. She was found crying in pain, clothes blood-soaked; hospital examination confirmed sodomy. The perpetrator was eventually arrested, but his family tried to pressure the family to withdraw charges and settle, making derogatory remarks exploiting their Christian poverty. According to the girl’s father:....

Scotland's Parliament Rejects Assisted Suicide

On March 17, Scotland's parliament voted 69 to 57 to reject Liam McArthur's assisted suicide bill. This is a great victory after the same bill was passed at second reading, in May 2025, by a vote of 70 to 56.

The defeat of Scotland's assisted suicide bill follows the death of the England / Wales Kim Leadbeater assisted suicide bill that has essentially died in the British House of Lords.

Afroman did not defame officers when he made songs about a police raid that destroyed his front door but resulted in no charges, an Ohio jury has decided.

In 2022, deputies from the Adams County Sheriff’s Office burst into the rapper's home while he was away by way of search warrant in order to look for evidence of drug trafficking and kidnapping.

As reported by WCPO Cincinnati, Afroman — real name Joseph Foreman — faced no subsequent charges, but he allegedly had a different mess on his hands. Afroman said officers tore his house apart, cut the cords of his video cameras, and even took his cash. According to CNN, officials later claimed their deputies had merely miscounted the money.

The defamation lawsuit stemmed from multiple Adams County deputies who claimed Afroman used their likeness without permission when he included his security footage in a series of music videos.

Kathy Hochul Begs Millionaires to Ask Their Friends Who Fled NY to Return So She Can Tax Them

New York Governor Kathy Hochul delivered a stark admission this week: the state’s tax base is eroding
as high-net-worth residents continue to depart for lower-tax destinations, leaving behind a funding gap for the expansive social programs that define the Empire State’s approach to governance.

Speaking at Politico’s New York Agenda: Albany Summit, Hochul openly pleaded for wealthy individuals—many now residing in places like Florida and Texas—to return or persuade their peers to do so, acknowledging that these taxpayers are essential to sustaining the generous welfare framework New York has built.

The governor’s remarks came amid mounting pressure from progressive voices, including New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani, who has pushed for significant tax increases on the rich to address budget shortfalls. Hochul resisted those calls, arguing instead for retention rather than coercion.

Gianforte Petitions to Block Montana Property Tax Lawsuit

Almost a year after its passage, the Montana GOP fight is intensifying over Gov. Greg Gianforte’s property tax legislation package — a signature policy effort to reduce property taxes for primary residences and long-term rentals, in part by raising rates on others.

The governor’s office on Monday petitioned the Montana Supreme Court to take up a case filed in state District Court in Bozeman in January by a group of Republican lawmakers who voted against the property tax bills during the 2025 session.

If the higher court assumes jurisdiction of the lawsuit, Gianforte said, the court could answer the legal questions about the constitutionality of Senate Bill 542, one bill central to the administration’s property tax effort. Among other questions, Gianforte’s office asked the court to affirm that SB 542 met the constitutional requirement that legislation be limited to a single subject properly aligned with a bill’s title.  

Illinois Physician-Assisted Suicide Bill Opposed

Effingham County Board has taken an official stance against the recently advanced Illinois Physician-Assisted Suicide Bill, known as the End-of-Life Options for Terminally Ill Patients Act. The resolution, opposing the legislation, passed Monday after considerable discussion.

Board member Sandi Rich cited concerns regarding the responsibilities that would fall on county coroners and first responders when handling deaths under the new law. She also questioned the protocol for unused medication if a patient chooses not to proceed.  

County Coroner Kim Rhodes echoed those concerns, stating uncertainty over which medications would be used and how such deaths would be reported. County Democrat Chairman Pat Lewis expressed the need for ongoing review and potential revisions to the measure, but stopped short of supporting a complete repeal.

Scottish Parliament Votes Down Assisted Suicide Legislation

The Scottish Parliament has voted down legislation that would have allowed terminally ill adults to choose an assisted suicide. Euthanasia laws have passed across the western world.

The Assisted Dying for Terminally Ill Adults (Scotland) bill fell on March 10 with 69 Members of the Scottish Parliament (MSPs) voting against and 57 in favor, short of the 64 votes required to pass.

Liberal Democrat MSP Liam McArthur, who tabled the bill, called the result “devastating” but said the conversation “isn’t going away.” McArthur has championed assisted dying since his re-election in 2021 and serves as one of Holyrood’s deputy presiding officers. He will need to be re-elected on May 7 to bring the issue forward again, reports the BBC.

The legislation underwent intense scrutiny, including 175 stage-three amendments. MSPs debated the bill passionately, with some speaking for the last time before the upcoming election. The measure is the third attempt to legalize assisted dying in Scotland over the past 16 years.

Independent MSP Margo MacDonald first proposed similar legislation in 2010, which was rejected 85–16. A second bill from Scottish Green MSP Patrick Harvie was defeated 82–36 in 2015. Last year, MSPs approved the bill’s general principles by 70–56.

9-0: Supreme Court Sides With Street Preacher’s Right to Sue Over City’s Speech Restriction Fred Lucas

The Supreme Court, in a unanimous decision on Friday, allowed a Christian pastor to proceed with his lawsuit against a Mississippi city’s law restricting where he could preach.

In the case of Olivier v. City of Brandon, Justice Elena Kagan, a Barack Obama appointee, wrote for the court in the case involving free speech and religious freedom.

The high court determined that pastor Gabriel Olivier could sue the government of Brandon, Miss., over an ordinance he contends unconstitutionally prevents him from sharing his Christian faith near a public amphitheater.

He was arrested for preaching outside the designated free speech area in 2021 and pleaded no contest.

Allen West Greets Patty Morin

This past Monday, I was in Maryland, and I had the privilege of meeting Patty Morin. [pictured here] I say privilege because when you stand in the presence of a mother who has buried her daughter, a mother who channels her grief into a fight for justice, you are in the presence of something sacred. Something that should humble every politician, every judge, and every governor who has decided that ideological posturing matters more than the lives of American citizens.  

Patty’s daughter was Rachel Morin. A 37-year-old mother of five children. Let that settle in for a moment. Five children. Rachel went for a walk on the Ma & Pa Trail in Bel Air, Maryland, on August 5, 2023. She never came home. Her body was discovered the next day. She had been brutally raped and murdered.

Alberta to Ban Doctors from Offering Euthanasia before a Patient Asks — Unlike the Rest of Canada

Alberta doctors will be explicitly banned from raising assisted death with a patient without the person first bringing it up, according to a new bill tabled in the province on Wednesday.  

The goal is to ensure the potentially life-ending decisions are “initiated and driven” by people themselves.  

Some critics argue that it’s “mind boggling” that, across Canada, medical assistance in dying (MAID) is being presented as a care option. The fear is that initiating a discussion about MAID risks unduly influencing someone to choose it, given doctor-patient power dynamics.

However, Canada’s MAID providers argue that doctors have a duty to disclose “all available treatment options,” including, when appropriate, MAID.

Among other changes, Alberta’s proposed Safeguards for Last Resort Termination of Life Act would, if passed, restrict all regulated health professionals, including doctors and nurse practitioners, from bringing up MAID unless the person raises it.

Why the simple act of standing up would be a gamechanger for Christians 

Western authorities seem to encourage anyone and everyone to “stand up” for themselves. Everyone, that is, except Christians—they who, rather ironically, created and made Western civilization so appealing in the first place.

There are numerous examples of this. Here’s an especially memorable one:

In 2024, a Muslim man stabbed and partially blinded Orthodox bishop Mar Mari Emmanuel while he preached inside his Sydney church. Commenting on this—as well as the ongoing terrorization of Christians at the hands of Muslims in general—an Australian man wrote “Christians should stand up” on social media.

Because of this simple assertion, police—accompanied by a head shrink—“visited” and questioned the man in his home. You can watch the video here. In it, the man can be heard questioning the police,
